Leadership

We believe the vast majority of good work in the church is not performed by official leaders, but by individual members using their unique gifts and abilities to build up the whole body. In this sense, “Member” is the most important role in the church. The role of formal leaders is to accept responsibility for equipping and coordinating the rest of the church body to serve.

Pastor

Richard was born in Los Angeles and was raised in the San Gabriel Valley. He came to faith in Jesus as a child. An increasing conviction of the truth and beauty of God’s Word grew in him during college and he served in a local church youth ministry as he earned a Masters of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary. Upon graduation, he pursued Biblical studies in Scotland for four years, then returned to the San Gabriel Valley and served as a pastor in Monterey Park for 14 years. With the aim of multiplying gospel-centered churches, he partnered with Michael Gregory to plant Bridges Community Church. Richard lives in Alhambra with his wife Danette and their son, Dylan.

Pastor

Michael grew up in Chattanooga, TN, and moved to China in 2006, where he served with Cru, reaching out to college students with the good news of Jesus. During his time in China, he earned a Masters of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary in Atlanta. Michael served in China along with his wife Beth  until 2016, when they moved to Alhambra to pursue church planting. His passion for people led him to join the United States Air Force in 2022, where he serves as a chaplain 24 days a year at Edwards Air Force Base near Lancaster. Michael loves food and fellowship, especially at Chongqing Special Noodles in San Gabriel. He also enjoys skiing with his kids (Stella, Zane, and Beck) and reading with Beth.

Elder

Jason grew up in the Monterey Park/Alhambra area, having attended schools in the Alhambra Unified School District and Cal State LA. He married Debbie in 2002 and moved to Temple City. Jason’s vocation as an educator started in the general education classroom, though he has been teaching students with physical and health impairments for the past 18 years. Jason enjoys discussing social trends and movies with friends over a meal or a cup of coffee. In his free time, he enjoys going on day trips with his family and doing anything that takes him outdoors, such as hiking, running, cycling, tennis, and pickleball.

Elder

Jeremiah grew up in Fremont, CA. He attended UCSB where he graduated in 2017 with his BA in Economics and met his wife, Kirstyn. While in Santa Barbara, Jeremiah was very involved in Epic (part of Cru) where he made lifelong friends and developed a deeper appreciation for the Gospel. Following graduation, he moved to the SGV to pursue a career in teaching, but shortly transitioned to working in higher education. By virtue of living in the SGV, he loves to eat and try new Chinese restaurants. In his free time, Jeremiah has a rotating number of different hobbies; he loves playing board games, watching movies, and reading. You may also occasionally see him struggling to jog in the streets of Pasadena.

Debbie Chan

Director of Discipleship

(part-time)
Debbie was born in Taiwan and immigrated to the US at seven years old. With the exception of four years at UCLA, she has lived, studied, and taught in the San Gabriel Valley since. Jason and Debbie have been married since 2002. She enjoys homeschooling their children, which often entails discussing great works of literature, including Pride and Prejudice, with their daughter Lizzy, and learning interesting facts about the world God created with their son Luke. She loves spending time with the ladies from Bridges to encourage one another to see how God is working in their lives.
