Membership

What does membership mean at Bridges?

It is impossible to be a solo Christian.

When individuals come to faith in Jesus, Acts 2:47 describes  it as “the Lord adding to the church.”  We are never saved in isolation, but rather God always saves a people. The Bible refers to Christians as members of Jesus’ body.  He identifies so intimately with us.  He is infinitely committed to us.  Church membership is a reflection of Christ’s commitment to his body.

For some more insight into the importance of church membership, here’s a helpful article from a pastor in our denomination in Atlanta.

How do you become a member?
  1. Attend a weekend ‘membership seminar’ held twice a year.  Hear more about Bridges and what we believe, ask questions, and explore what it means to be a member of our church.
  2. Meet with an elder so we can get to know you personally and hear your story of God’s work in your life.
  3. In one of our worship services, the new members affirm their faith in Jesus and are welcomed to the church family.
